Boyhoood review

I DON'T WANNA BE A BIG MAN

Rating: 10 out of 10

Five seconds into Boyhood and I could tell this would be great film. One hour in, I knew I’m watching one of the greatest films ever made. Or at least one of the greatest film experiences of my life. I don’t like to throw this word around for every great film I see but I guess it’s time to write this one down. When the film ended, I was convinced that Boyhood is a flat-out masterpiece.

COOL KIDS

Rating: 8 out of 10

It’s here! This year’s lovable character from a lovable animated movie is here! I’m talking about Baymax, the white inflatable robot-hero, who gets the most laughs and tears in this vibrant, funny and enjoyable animated superhero entertainment. He is a cross between the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Wall-E but doesn’t wreak havoc over a city or fall in love with another robot.

LOOK AT THE STARS

The filmgoers of today should deem themselves fortunate to be living in the present space and time to witness Christopher Nolan’s cinematic odyssey on the big screen called Interstellar. This is phenomenal cinema. It is visually elegant, emotionally resonant, ambitiously bold, imaginatively tall, an absolutely phenomenal piece of cinema.  It is what cinema used to be – a motion picture event. IMAX? I wish I could see this film at a planetarium.

Underneath, Mary Kom is a film about a woman fighting against the disadvantageous state of being a woman in today’s India. Her fight in the ring is with her opponents. Her fight outside is with the Indian society. As the former, it’s an average film. As the latter, the film is a knockout.

MOONAGE DAYDREAM

When I have seen a movie that I absolutely loved, I generally discuss my favorite parts in the film with others (whether they want to or not). You know it’s a great movie, and I don’t mean this only for commercial or art-house films, I mean… any film on this planet. You know it’s great when you don’t run out of dialogues, scenes or music to discuss. There are so many, you can’t put your finger on one and call it the best thing about the film. Guardians of the Galaxy is one such film. These films don’t deserve reviews, they deserve a bunch of jackasses standing in a circle going on and going about what was awesome.
